Families Need Some Face Time

Aug 19, 2020

The enemy wants to destroy, he wants to confuse and separate the family. And he's done a good job, spiritually separating hearts, also separating family members, even in the home. When we come in the home, people go to their separate rooms and that get in their rooms, even in the living room or the family room, around the television.  Although they're physically in the same room, they're separated because each one may be on their Smartphone or may have the television on. They're not looking face to face at one another. They're looking at these apparatuses that we have, whatever type it is. So, the enemy wants to separate us. And as a result, when there is separation, things get out of order. And so, I want to zero in on something we can use this time while our nation is facing these huge issues. And they're in our face. We can use this as an opportunity to examine our family, to strengthen our family and use it as a time to regain a face to face relationship with one another.

Loving Like God, Podcast by Jo Hancock

Aug 12, 2020

We're to love God, that love that word for love, there is an action. It is an action that gives so where to respond in an action. When we love God with all of our heart, all of our soul, and all of our strength, and it's a giving action. Now I want to stop right here and say something so many times when we hear the word give, we think of what we think of money. When we say the word love, we think of feelings. I want to broaden our scope, our understanding of love and zero in on God's love to go beyond those narrow understanding of love because in Deuteronomy 6:5 it that love there is an active giving, but it's much, much more than materialistic giving of money. This is amplified. This is repeated in a commandment when Jesus spoke. And he said in Matthew, 22:37, when he said the greatest commandment is to do what? Is to love the Lord, your God, what?

With all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind, that Greek word for love. There is an agape. What I want you to see in the new Te...

One Nation Under God?

Aug 06, 2020

Excerpt from One Nation Under God?  Podcast by Jo Hancock

This is a law in our land in 1954, it was enacted by Congress and we recognize that we are a republic and that we are a nation.  The words “under God” was added to our pledge and added in this piece of legislation.  Why was it even an important matter at that time that Congress would dictate some of their time to take action on this, to add the words “under God”, to the Pledge of Allegiance? Well, at that time in our history, there was a scare, a threat of communism taking over and invading in our nation, and it would invade and overtake our liberty as people. And so, our lawmakers and our President, at that time made a profound declaration that this nation, United States was under God. The word under seems to be a minor word, but it is very, very important in this matter. The word under means to get beneath. It means submission, submission to what?  Submission to God, submission to God that he would be our protector.  He's our...

INTRODUCING THE BECOMING HIS VESSEL PODCAST

Mar 24, 2020

Wow!  What challenging yet exciting times we are living.  Challenging because we are dealing with so many unknowns and how to overcome the coronavirus pandemic.  Exciting because we see how Father God has prepared us for the hour: to run to the Word for wisdom, strength, and healing; to pray earnestly for one another; and to connect through technology platforms already in place.

There are so many opportunities and avenues available to help one another during this time. We have so many options, in fact, that I personally was becoming overwhelmed with the possibilities! Recently, one morning while in my prayer closet, the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart, instructing me to do what God has gifted me to do: teach the Word and pray the Word. The Holy Spirit began to download within me a message about the spiritual RELIEF we needed during this time.  I grabbed my pen and began to write Scriptures as the Holy Spirit guided me.  When the Holy Spirit grew silent, what I saw on paper was the bir...

GOD KNOWS MY HEART

Mar 15, 2020

We've completed our first online discipleship, Becoming His Vessel: The Pathway to Living a Life with Meaning, with over 70 participating. The simple teaching of the Word began to change lives immediately! One woman shares,

“Years ago, I was involved in a Sunday school class but the group didn’t want to study the Word—it was a social time. I allowed the attitude of the class to wound my heart. I became disconnected from church and began to drift away from God. Recently, I started the Becoming His Vessel online course. In the first lesson, Jo discussed 1 Samuel 16:7: ‘But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”’ That word leaped off the page at me! God KNOWS MY HEART! That truth immediately set me free from my past wound. I instantly became hungry for the Word again and my close relationship with God.”...

We continue to hear testimonies from participants sharing how life has slowed down, providing time for families to be at home together, doing family activities. They are enjoying time around the dining room table, in face-to-face relationship, communicating together. One current class participant shares,

“I feel both humbled and honored to be a part of this discipleship group during these trying times. It’s a beautiful picture of how God designed things to be, an...

Bible Reading Marathon on the National Day of Prayer

Mar 09, 2020

Every year, His Vessel Ministries hosts a Bible Reading Marathon beginning on the National Day of Prayer. By reading God’s Word in public, we pronounce His truth and goodness across our entire city and into the hearts and homes of all!

This year will be a little different due to the pandemic guidelines for public meetings. We will read the entire Bible, Genesis to Revelation, on one day, Thursday, May 7, 2020, but the readings will be done from each participant’s home instead of from the Capitol. We will assign 15-minute segments of Scripture to be read. It will be different, of course! But we will continue to lift high God’s Word however we can. And we are excited that this will offer special time for families to read God’s Word together in their homes. The purpose of speaking the living Word of God over our city will still be accomplished, and this new format will actually spread that reading all over our state! Sign up opportunities are coming soon, and we cannot wait to see how ...
